The event kicked off Tuesday, March 9 with the presentation of the first-ever Green Truck Leadership Award to U.S. Representative Gary Peters (MI) for his outstanding contributions in promoting advanced alternative fuels technologies for work trucks.

Dr. Kristina Johnson, Under Secretary for Energy, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), spoke about U.S. opportunities for increasing commercial truck productivity and discussed the commitment of DOE leadership on fuel use reduction. Her presentation showed a balanced view of harnessing and leveraging current and future technologies.


GTS10_JackRoushDay two (March 10) of the Green Truck Summit began with Jack Roushchairman of Roush Enterprises and CEO/co-owner of NASCAR team Roush Fenway Racing (Livonia, MI),who presented alongside Roy W. Willis, president and CEO of the Propane Education and Research Council (Washington, DC). Their discussion provided insights into the value of propane as a domestic resource which can lead the U.S to energy independence.


Educational Sessions
In addition to the keynote presentations, the Green Truck Summit included general sessions and breakout sessions led by industry leaders, government officials and academic experts who overviewed hybrid and alternative fuel technologies, funding opportunities, applications for commercial vehicles, fleet operations and real-world results of implementing green technologies. GTALogoAlso, NTEA outgoing president Andrew Outcalt, President of Meyer Products and Swenson Spreader (Cleveland, OH) in his opening remarks at the Green Truck Summit announced the formation of a new NTEA affiliate division, the Green Truck Association (GTA).
